Attributes of a Great Realtor

  1. They listen to you. In order to find out what a person needs is by having a conversation with them and listening to what they have to say. I recommend having a conversation in the agent’s office or coffee shop so that you can talk about your needs and wants and the agent can tell you how they can help you achieve those goals.

  2. They respond within a reasonable amount of time. I enjoy making sure that my clients are a priority to me. Therefore, I like to answer their calls or texts within the same day. Keeping my clients educated about what’s going on in the process ensures that the transaction goes smoothly.

  3. They’re honest. I think that it’s best to be upfront and honest about what is going on because if there is an issue, it is easier to fix. Hiding information is not only against our realtor code of ethics, it is bad business. I believe that I can be more helpful to you if I provide you with all the facts to make an informed decision.

Just to give you some reference, here are my experiences working with good and bad Realtors…

The good the bad and the ugly. lol

I sold a house in Philadelphia to one of my closest friends. The Realtor that was on the seller side of the deal was so wonderful to work with. She communicated effectively and in a timely manner, which I appreciated. I was able to get my client all the information that she needed because the Realtor responded in a timely fashion and didn’t keep us waiting for days on end.

I had an experience with a bad Realtor who kept me waiting for documents for weeks at a time. If you know anything about real estate, it’s that it moves quickly. Also, deadlines are set in stone and often times can’t be changed without a written agreement from both parties. He was difficult to communicate with and oftentimes started arguments over the phone. At the closing table, he even negotiated a higher pay rate for himself and gave me a lower pay rate.

I learned a great deal from both of those transactions. I learned to be open and honest, respect deadlines and other people’s time. I told myself to be someone who is easy to work for, not just for my own self-worth but for the sake of my clients.
